Following your breast reduction surgery, you will be moved to a recovery area for observation by medical staff. It is normal to experience some pain, swelling, and discomfort in the chest area. You will be provided with pain medication and guidance on caring for your incisions and bandages.
During the initial days following the surgery, it is crucial to rest and refrain from engaging in strenuous activities. You might encounter bruising and swelling, but these effects can be alleviated with the use of ice packs and pain relief medication. Wearing a surgical bra or compression garment will offer support and aid in minimizing swelling.
At the one-week mark, you will have a follow-up appointment with your Athēnix surgeon. During this visit, stitches and drains may be removed. While you can resume light activities, it is advisable to avoid strenuous ones.
You should continue to refrain from heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. Nonetheless, you may contemplate returning to work and engaging in some daily activities. Although you may still experience some swelling and tenderness, you should begin to feel more comfortable.
Typically, you can resume most regular activities, including exercise and lifting. You will observe the breasts settling into their new shape and your recovery progressing.
At this point, your breasts should completely heal, with any lingering swelling or discomfort subsiding. While some scarring may still be apparent, it will continue to fade over time.
At the six-month milestone, your breasts should be fully healed, and you will fully experience the advantages of your breast reduction surgery. You will notice improved comfort, mobility, and enhanced self-confidence.
